How To Use Eal D Scales To Program
performance scale used to determine the English language proficiency level of a new student, track student progress and help plan for meaningful instruction of our EAL students.
- EAL teaching aims to teach English using the mainstream curriculum as the context. This involves developing specific teaching strategies and resources which aim to make the language of the curriculum accessible through, for example, increased use of visuals, scaffolding and modelling, while keeping the cognitive challenge and interest level high.
- To be fluent with jazz soloing requires the ability to not just know the scales - you have to know when to use them. In fact, knowing jazz guitar scales and how to apply them in a variety of soloing situations will help you navigate the changes in the chords.
- Supporting resources on the learning progression for mainstream teachers who are not EAL/D specialists can be found on ACARA and The Australian Curriculum websites. The ESL Scales (PDF 521KB) are used by teachers as an assessment tool to describe the English language development of EAL learners in oral interaction, reading and responding and writing.
Our school is seeking a Part-time (0.8 FTE) permanent EAL/D teacher.
The successful applicant will work in collaboration with the classroom teachers to deliver high quality learning experiences to our EAL/D students.
